She is the child of Harvey Welker, a Native American father as well as Julie Welker, an African American Mother. Her mother works as an agent and her father is an civil engineer. Walker was educated in the Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia's Germantown neighborhood, graduating in 1994. She went to Harvard College, where she earned a Bachelors of Arts degree. Welker is in a relationship with John Hughes a well-known marketing director for Merck at Philadelphia and they have two children. The couple started to engage in an affair.
